First Annual Booty Ball
November 4th, 2007
The Colon Cancer Coalition held its first annual fundraiser on Sunday, November 4th at Aqua Nightclub, one of the Twin Cities hippest new hotspots. The Booty Ball welcomed festive partygoers of all ages who relived the 70’s and 80’s by dressing in stylish disco duds and dancing the night away to the retro tunes of Boogie Wonderland. Minnesota Viking’s defensive back Ronyell Whitaker, the evening’s honorary host, greeted guests who enjoyed a night of retro revelry to help raise funds for the Coalition’s national efforts to bring a Get Your Rear in Gear event to all 50 states by 2010.
Funds raised at the event included donations by Aqua nightclub owners Steve and Jado Hark and by Bacardi Liquors whose employees participated in making the night a succes. As part of the evening’s festivities, partygoers purchased disco ball raffle tickets to win lavish prizes donated by local merchants including Brian Graham Salon and Intoto Boutique. By gathering the largest number of Booty Ball attendees from a Team, The Caffeine Crew, captained by Coalition volunteer Jacyln Hoey, won a VIP tent including food and prizes to enjoy at the Twin Cities 5K event in 2008.
The Coalition wishes to thank everyone who participated in making the night a success including Aqua Nightclub, Bacardi, Cosetta’s Catering, and event organizers Malia Frey, Karen Biernat, Mel Barr, Alan Cohen, Meghan Hurley, Tonya Dunn, and Kristin Tabor.
