Austin Get Your Rear in Gear 5k

This year’s Austin Get Your Rear in Gear event was a great success with right at 500 participants registered, and many new teams joining us. We had a record response from our local sponsors as well, and want to thank them all for making this event possible.

With the Super Colon on site after the race, and our large display of educational handouts we were able to talk to and answer many questions participants had regarding Colon Cancer detection and screening.

With community support from sponsors, donations and our participants we plan on bringing more Colon Cancer information to the people of Central Texas in 2009. Thanks again to everyone involved, and hope to see you all again next year.

Additional Information

If kids wish to participate in the 5K event, they need to signup for the 5k registration and not for the Kids ½ mile. Kids running the 5K must pay the 5K price and will receive a technical shirt (Adult Small is the smallest size). Kids participating in the ½ Mile Fun Run will receive a cotton youth size t-shirt.

The Colon Cancer Coalition is dedicated to building awareness of colorectal cancer by creating Get Your Rear in Gear events in all 50 states by 2010
