Second annual Central Ohio Get Your Rear in Gear 5K

 
Over 150 partcipants braved the hilly and challenging terrain of the Knox County Fairgrounds to raise awareness for Colon Cancer.  The 5K run started at 2:00 pm with 13 year old Ben Gillen winning in 23:33.  Top female finisher was Ben's mother, Kathy Gillen making it a family affair. 

Jason Mentzer was second with a time of 23:37 and a close third place was Evan Hellinger at 23:38. Team participation was strong at this year's event.  Team reJoyce raised over $1,400.  Rich's Team came in at nearly 40 strong and Team Jackie had 27 walkers out on the course.
 
Congratulations to Local Event Director Sarah Hohman, a full-time nursing student, who coordinated all of the details of this year's race with a little help from her mom and dad Christine and Ed Hohman and moral support from brother Dan. Everyone in Mount Vernon is looking forward to next year's Get Your Rear in Gear event.
