Twin Cities Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk

WCCO-TV Sports Anchor and KFAN radio personality Mark Rosen hosted the Sixth Annual Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run at Southdale Center in Edina, today. Rosen was joined by elected officials including U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen, Edina Mayor Jim Hovland, and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar. Klobuchar thanked the nearly 5000 participants for coming out to support this important cause, noting that “Minnesotans are always at the front of the pack”, a reference to the fact that this nationwide series of races began locally in Minnesota.

Early estimates indicate that this year’s event raised $200,000 to increase awareness and provide screening for colon cancer. Funds raised in 2010 will help support the Sage Scopes Screening Program, a division of the Minnesota Department of Health that provides colon cancer screening and treatment to under- and non-insured Minnesotans
