About Tony's Trot Kids Fun Run

The Kids Fun Run honors former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow who lost his battle to colon cancer in July of 2008. The Kids Fun Run is not only a place for our younger runners and walkers to show their stuff, but a time for us to reflect on the passing of an extraordinary parent who was an inspiration to his children and many others.

MAUDE DANIELS AWARD

The second annual Maude Daniels Award will be presented at the 2012 Get Your Rear in Gear (GYRIG) Philadelphia.  Nominations will be accepted through February 29, 2012.

Maude Daniels was a hero who mastered the art of unconditional love.   A skillful influencer, she relished the intersecting paths of people and life.  Her power to encourage others to discover and pursue their dreams often changed the lives of people she encountered.

Maude welcomed the positive and negative, and the opportunities to make both wonderful.  She was inspiring, uplifting, and adventurous, confident that her faith would carry her and she would emerge triumphant no matter what.

Maude Daniels dedicated her life to giving her children everything she possibly could but her dedication overflowed into caring for the children of others and serving in church ministries.  Her love and generosity ran deep, and despite the demands on her time and attention,  In particular, she opened the doors of her home to many for lodging, for meals, for warmth and for love.

Maude never once expected anything in return.  Even when she endured a decade of the devastating affects of colon cancer, Maude continued to minister to others.  She never allowed her illness to define her – she grabbed every minute of life and lived it to the fullest by traveling the globe until the very end.

Maude passed away from the complications of colon cancer in May, 2010 at the age of 97.

For all of these reasons and more, Get Your Rear in Gear Philadelphia invites nominations for the second annual MAUDE DANIELS AWARD.  Tell us in 300 words or less how a hero in your life embodies the spirit of Maude Daniels.
