    My mom Barb Bock was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in 1996 at the age of 48, she went to the doctor with diarrhea for a month and some stomach pains and within a couple days she had a colonoscopy and then abdominal surgery with the removal of part of her colon and the diagnosis of Colon Cancer. She struggled with her cancer, chemo and multiple surgeries to lose her battle with Colon Cancer in November 2001. Read More »

    Barbara Levinson Townsend was born in Houston, Texas on October 22, 1948, to Goldie Wald and Sidney Levinson. She grew up with her three siblings, Bobby, Michael and Kay. Barbara graduated from Beaumont High School in June 1967 and then moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas. At UT she received a B.A. in Education in 1971.     My mother died of colon cancer it will be two years come April 19th, the day of the Twin Cities 5K walk, so my family has decided this would be a great way to celebrate her life! My mother was the center of my family's life. She was our pillar. She was a kind and generous lady. She had five children, and eight grandchildren, whom she adored! She didn't work while we (her kids) were little, but went to work when we were teenagers.     Colleen was born in 1953. She learned of her cancer in July of 2004 as the result of extreme abdominal pain. The surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and subsequent surgeries to remove the tumor began a three and half year battle that was an up and down rollercoaster ride.     Dale Halvorson, my father, was known as "Coach" to all who knew him. He was a U of M football player and lifelong MClub supporter and fan. He proudly served in the Navy. He coached boys swimming and football at Southwest High School in Minneapolis for nearly 30 years, and continued to work and volunteer as a swimming and track official for nearly 20 years after his retirement.     My mom was the greatest person in the world. She was loved by many all over. She was a legendary music teacher for the Waynesboro Public School System for over 30 years. She was also named Teacher of the Year prior to retiring. My mom was always organized and always got up at the crack of dawn to start her day on the road.     Glenda Patrice Bauer was born to Nestor and Iris Johnson in Cloquet, MN on June 11th, 1953. She grew up in Mahtowa with her five siblings, Mary Raye, Marcia, Mickie, Mike and Neil. She graduated from Barnum High School as valedictorian. She was homecoming queen, and participated in cheerleading, student government, yearbook, and band. Her "Fear Nothing" attitude to beat this disease included four major surgeries to remove the cancer, and she tried five different chemotherapy regimens (including a clinical trial).
